HTC One X 5 Phablet Photo and Specs Leaked

Rumors of an HTC phablet have been circumventing the industry for some time now, though it appears the rumors are one step closer to being legitimized after today. While there has yet to be an official statement from HTC, some photos along with a list of specs has been leaked by an unnamed source.

HTC One X 5The smartphone will apparently go by the name HTC One X 5 — logical, given its similarities to the One X and generously-sized screen. Its rumored code-name is DIx (Droid Incredible Xtended?).

Two images of this device came to light today. One shows what could be an official press shot (at right), the other has the device “in the wild“.

Big and Fast

The One X 5 is supposedly going to offer a 5-inch 1080p HD display, with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and 480ppi pixel density.

It will also reportedly house a Qualcomm S4 quad-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, and 16GB of built-in storage. Allegedly the device will not allow for any memory expansion through a microSD slot, and will include a non-removable battery.

The lack of a stylus is a strong sign that HTC is not looking to compete directly with the Samsung Galaxy Note II.

Supposedly, the handset will offer a second notification LED for missed events located on the back of the device near the camera.

Still Skeptical

While this information is certainly exciting, consumers should take it with a grain of salt. Namely a red flag is raised because the leaked spec sheet does not seem to add up, as a 5-inch display with 1920 x 1080 resolution would result in a 440ppi pixel density not 480ppi as the leak suggests. To deliver a 480 ppi, the HTC One X would either have to have a higher resolution than 1080p or a screen that is around 4.6-inches.

Unfortunately, HTC has yet to make an official claim regarding this leak, leaving consumers left speculating.
