Many people should be familiar with the HTC Wizard, though they may know of it by a different name. For example, Cingular Wireless has been offering this Pocket PC phone for some time, but it’s calling it the 8125.

Never content with a model for very long, HTC has just announced an updated version of the Wizard. Code-named the Herald, HTC is naming this device the P4350. But, again, many of the carriers that offer it will re-name it.

There has already been one update to the Wizard. The Hermes has essentially the same shape and size as its predecessor, but adds support for 3G UMTS/HSDPA cellular-wireless networking. The Herald will be thinner than either of these, but lack 3G support.

Like the earlier models, the Herald will have a QWERTY keyboard that can slide behind its 2.8-inch, QVGA touchscreen.

It will run Windows Mobile 5.0 and include 64 MB of RAM and 128 MB of ROM.

This quad-band GSM phone will also offer GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 2.0.

In addition, the Herald will have a 2.0 megapixel camera and a microSD memory card slot.

HTC says the Herald/P4350 will debut in Europe next month. Which carriers will be offering and at what prices are not yet known.

More information on this Pocket PC phone is available on HTC’s web site.
