T-Mobile has just announced the release date for the HTC Sensation 4G, and it’s after the date that had earlier been rumored. That’s a bit of bad news for those who are eager to get their hands on this cutting-edge Android smartphone.
It’s going to be well supplied with the latest features, like a qHD (960 x 540) display, dual-core processor, and a 4G connection. Specs like these give it the potential to become T-Mobile’s new flagship smartphone.
This carrier has just announced that the Sensation 4G is going to debut in its stores and t-mobile.com on Wednesday, June 15. Previously, an unconfirmed report said this product would be released a week before. However, a report that it will be in Wal-Mart stores on June 12 is correct — shoppers at this retail Goliath will able to get this product a few days early.
The rumormill also got the price right: $200 with a two-year contract. This price will require sending in a $50 mail-in rebate.
Ever since it was announced back in April, this upcoming model has drawn quite a bit of attention with its advanced featureset. This starts with a 4.3-inch qHD (960 x 540) Super-LCD touchscreen. This will be T-Mobile first smartphone with a screen this size and resolution.
The Sensation 4G is going to be bundled with a pair of services designed to take advantage of the large display: HTC Watch to rent or buy movies, and T-Mobile TV for watching streaming video stations. Pre-installed streaming music options will include HTC Listen and Slacker Radio.
It will also have a rear-facing 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash. In addition to high-res images, it will be able to record 1080p video at 30 fps. This model will also have a front-facing camera for video conferencing.
Other Cutting-Edge Features
The Sensation will run Google Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread) on a dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The HTC Sense 3.0 user interface will be layered atop Google’s standard UI. This device will offer 1GB of internal storage as well as an 8GB microSD memory card for additional capacity.
This HTC device will naturally support T-Mobile’s 4G HSPA Wireless Network (14.4 Mbps download, 5.76 upload) and have Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS, and DLNA. Other features will include a 768MB of RAM, 1520 mAh battery, an FM radio, and a range of sensors like ambient light, digital compass, gyroscope, and G-sensor.
