This is the day T-Mobile is introducing the HTC Sensation, an Android smartphone with an array of cutting-edge features. Sensation has the specs to make it T-Mobile’s new flagship device. Highlights include a large, qHD touchscreen, dual-core processor, and 4G support.
It went on sale at Wal-Mart stores this weekend, but is only now debuting on this carrier’s website and its retail stores. This HTC smartphone sells for $200 with a two-year contract. This price requires sending in a $50 mail-in rebate — without a contract the price is $550.
UPDATE: Early this morning, the Sensation was listed on T-Mobile’s website as “Temporarily Out of Stock”. This has now changed and the webstore is taking orders.
HTC Sensation Overview
T-Mobile’s newest handset sports a 4.3-inch 960 x 540 Super-LCD Touchscreen — this carrier’s first with a screen this size and resolution. It’s bundled with two services to take advantage of this large display, HTC Watch and T-Mobile TV.
The Sensation runs Google Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread) on a dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 768MB of RAM. The HTC Sense 3.0 user interface is layered atop Google’s standard UI. This device has 1GB of internal storage as well as an 8GB microSD memory card.
It supports T-Mobile’s 4G HSPA Wireless Network (14.4 Mbps download, 5.76 upload) and has Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS, and DLNA. Other features include a 1520 mAh battery, an FM radio, and a range of sensors like ambient light, digital compass, gyroscope, and G-sensor.
