HTC will soon begin a advertising campaign on North America. This won’t focus on any particular product, but will instead be aimed at increasing the publics awareness of the HTC brand.
This is a significant change of tack for the company, which has generally let wireless carriers take care of advertising the smartphones they offer, with the HTC brand name being a very small piece of that.
Over the last year though, the company has started to put more emphasis on its brand. It worked to convince carriers to put the HTC name on the devices they launch, for example, with the best-known example of this being the HTC Touch.
And now it appears the company is ready to step out into the limelight. This may be a sign that it plans to offer more products directly to consumers, rather than through carriers, something it recently announced it will do with the Touch Dual.
