It may not be official, but it looks like there’s a chance that the Apple iPhone 5S might get an extra dose of speed, with rumors abounding that the handset may feature support for LTE-Advanced networks.
The report comes from The Korea Times, which sites an unnamed source from SK Telecom, a South Korean wireless carrier. SK Telecom, according to the source, is in talks with Apple to launch an LTE-A compatible iPhone 5S on its networks later this year, which would grant the phone speeds more than twice as fast as standard 4G LTE networks.
Should the iPhone 5S launch with LTE-A compatibility, it will likely sport a Qualcomm modem, according to The Korea Times. Though nothing has been confirmed yet, other rumored hardware specs for the upcoming Apple flagship an updated A7 processor, an improved camera/flash, and possibly a fingerprint scanner.
