iPAQ h1910’s running at 300 MHz? You bet!

A programmer with an iPAQ h1910 in hand has figured out a way to take the processor down to 100 MHz or up to 300 MHz on the fly. The processor HP included with the h1910 is actually scaled back, but now you can take down that wall.

Scaling back the processors is actually quite standard. Both Dell’s for instance ship with the same exact processor. One is simply scaled back a bit. Pretty interesting stuff, but let me warn you. Installing this program may damage your hardware and will likely void your warranty. I recommend watching this thread over at Brighthand before doing any install. This is also where you can download the program and give feedback to the developer.

Hacks like this are always fun to see, especially if they prove out to be safe, without sapping battery life. So far all looks good for this little app, which hopes to sell for around $5-10 when it gets through testing.
