HP has officially announced the iPAQ rx1950 series, but it has done so rather quietly by simply listing it on its web site.
This device can be pre-ordered now, but it isn’t available yet. The estimated shipping date is October 1.
An Overview of the iPAQ rx1950 Series
This Pocket PC will virtually identical to one of HP’s most popular models from the past, the iPAQ h4150.
It will run Windows Mobile 5.0 on a 300 MHz Samsung SC32442 processor.
In a surprising move, the rx1950 will include WiFi (802.11b) but not Bluetooth. Virtually all recent iPAQs have had Bluetooth.
Its 3.5 inch display with have a resolution of 240 by 320 pixels (QVGA).
This Pocket PC will include an SD/SDIO slot and an 1100 mAh, swappable battery.
One of the most significant ways the rx1950 will be different from the h4150 is price. This upcoming model will cost $300, much less than the original price of its predecessor.
