A browser-based tool for jailbreaking Apple’s latest smartphone is now available. This allows users to run software on the new iPhone 4 that hasn’t been authorized by Apple.
The iPhone can run third-party software, but only apps that have been approved by Apple. There are many who think this is too restrictive, and one of these people who goes by the pseudonym “Comex” has created a website where those with smartphones running iOS 4 can remove this limitation.
The jailbreaking process is done entirely on the website www.jailbreakme.com.
A recent ruling by the U.S. government made it clear that jailbreaking is completely legal.
However, anyone considering jailbreaking or unlocking their iPhone should keep in mind that doing so is not authorized by Apple. They should also be aware that Apple will do everything it can to break the unlocking tools with future versions of the iOS.
