It appears that Apple is preparing to unveil the latest iteration of its flagship handset, the iPhone 5S, at a press conference on September 10. The news comes from AllThingsD, which has established a reliable track record of predicting Apple announcements before the official press invitations were sent out to the media.
The iPhone 5S isn’t expected to offer a drastically different external design from its counterpart, but earlier leaks have indicated that the handset should feature a major internal overhaul. These earlier reports have speculated that the device will house a faster processor, an upgraded camera, and possibly a fingerprint scanner.
Apple is also working on a new low-cost iPhone variant, referred to as the “iPhone 5C”, though the naming is not official yet. However, at this point it is unclear if Apple will reveal the budget friendly iPhone (or its next-generation iPad) at the September 10 event.
