The iPhone’s Google Sync feature, used to manage emails, contacts, and calendars for Gmail users on iOS devices, is receiving three updates that will add functionality and usability.
- Full search of entire email: Prior to this update, users could only search for emails stored locally in the iOS mail app. Search is being spread to a users’ complete email account, making browsing old emails easier and, well, possible.
- Manage calendar events: Users will now be able to not only view their calendar events, but to also accept, decline, or edit events in Sync from the iOS calendar app.
- Control which address appears in the send field: For users whose lives span across multiple accounts, Google is updating Sync with a “Send Mail as” feature. So if a Gmail user also has a Yahoo account, and they want to send their email from email@example.com rather than firstname.lastname@example.org, sync now has them covered.
Users will not need to do anything to gain access to these features, and can begin enjoying them as soon as they are implemented (which should already be the case).
