In a recent article, Business Week hinted that Dell may be working on an Axim with a built-in keyboard.
This article discusses how the popularity of BlackBerry cellular-wireless handhelds has spawned a number of competitors with similar form factors, like Motorola Q and HP hw6500 series.
Included in the list is a mention that “Dell might also be readying its first Axim handheld with a keyboard.”
Of course, this could be simple speculation. On the other hand, the author could have some inside information that he can’t reveal directly, but instead is just hinting at.
It’s on the Roadmap
Earlier this year, an overview of Dell’s plans for the Axim Line was leaked to Brighthand.
According to this roadmap, Dell intends to introduce its first cellular-wireless handheld in mid-2006.
It’s likely that this will be first Axim with a built-in keyboard. Essentially all cellular-wireless handhelds released these days have one.
Before this model is available, Dell is expected to introduce an Axim with an integrated hard drive.
