ITM to Offer Its First Palm OS Smartphone (Updated)

ITM Technology AG today announced it will soon begin offering its first Palm OS device, the hagenuk SmartPhone S 200.

Update: This isn’t actually a new device; instead, it is a re-branded version of GSPDA’s Xplore M68.

This device will run Palm OS Garnet. It will have 64 MB of RAM and an SD/MMC slot for additional storage.

It will run on GSM/GPRS wireless networks. Bluetooth will give it access to headsets and other peripherals.

The hagenuk SmartPhone S 200 will use the standard candybar design, with a screen above number pad (see picture at left). It will be 4.3 inches tall, 2.0 inches wide, and 0.9 inches thick. (109 mm x 50 mm by 23 mm). It will weigh 4.5 ounces (127 g).

It’s 2.2-inch, 65,000-color Touchscreen will have a resolution of 160 by 220 pixels.

GSPDA Xplore M68 Like many smartphones, it will have an integrated 1.3 megapixel camera.

The hagenuk SmartPhone S 200 will be offered through ITM’s German retail channels beginning in April. The estimated retail price will be 499 Euros incl. VAT.

This announcement was made at the CeBIT 2005 tradeshow, going on now in Hanover, Germany.
