LG Genesis Dual Touchscreen Smartphone Now Available
US Cellular has just released the LG Genesis, an Android-based smartphone with an innovate design. This model is a clamshell, with two touchscreens and a large keyboard.
When closed, users will be able to interact with a 3.5-inch, WVGA (800 x 480) display. Opening it reveals a second 3.2-inch, WVGA screen as well as a physical, landscape-oriented keyboard.
The Genesis runs Google’s Android OS 2.2 (Froyo) on a 1GHz processor, and comes with Google standard suite of software, including a powerful web browser, multimedia player, and much more. It comes with an 8GB microSD memory card for storing images, videos, and other files.
This LG model supports US Cellular’s 3G (EV-DO Rev. A) network, and is able to share its high-speed wireless connection with up to five other computers over Wi-Fi. It also has Bluetooth, GPS and even DLNA, allowing it to stream audio and video to compatible TVs and other multimedia devices.
The device includes a 5-megapixel camera and a 1500 mAh battery. The size is 4.7 x 2.4 x 0.7 inches and 6 oz.
Price and Availability
The LG Genesis is now available exclusively from US Cellular. It sells for $150 after a $100 mail-in rebate, and with a two-year voice and data plan — that’s at least $50 less than many comparable devices are going for.
