Live from CES – Saturday Afternoon

It’s almost 3pm and we’ve been so darn busy, eating has become something of the past. Muscles are aching, but we drive on to bring you the latest news. We’ve seen GPS, the new Hitchai, the Tungsten W and a ton of SD card goodies.

Pharos didn’t have much new to report, but we did see their CF GPS module and their car adapter kit. They had a nice setup in Microsoft’s Ford Expolorer that would cause more accidents than any other car on the raod. In seat monitors, three GPS devices and an XBOX Live in the back. Very nice…

We were also one of the few who were allowed to handle the Hitachi PDA. It was branded with a Sprint logo, but word is Sprint may or may not carry it. We have more insight on Sprint and will get pictures of this device up tonight some time…remember we’re in the Pacific time zone now.

The SD card association was great. We met the president of the group who personally took us around to meet each of the companies demonstrating new products. A few highlights included an SD radio from iBiz, a slew of SD Bluetooth cards from Toshiba and others and a ton of concept gadgets that showcase the potential of the SD media.

The SD booth was huge with tons of action. In comparison, the CF card association has hookers out front trying to lure in anyone who passes by. I think I saw some tumbleweed blow through as we passed. Of course I’m kidding, but the comparison is actually quite startling.

We’ll have the major stories updated later with as many pictures as we could take. If you want to know anything specific, post it to the boards, we’re checking in every few hours.
