LOS GATOS, Calif. — Following Apple’s announcement earlier this month that Intel-based Macs have begun shipping, Mark/Space, Inc. today announced a Universal Application update to its award-winning Missing Sync for Palm OS software that will run natively on the entire Macintosh product line. A free update for owners of version 5.0, version 5.1 will ship as a universal binary, providing full support for both PowerPC and Intel-based Macs running Mac OS X. Mark/Space expects to make this update available before the end of March.
“Native Intel processor support is the latest in a series of Apple technologies, including Sync Services and Spotlight integration, that we have built into The Missing Sync for Palm OS,” said Brian Hall, Mark/Space president and CEO. “Version 5.1 delivers on our promise to support Apple’s Intel transition and provides what is by far the best Palm OS experience on the Mac platform.”
“The blazing speed of our new machines provides a significant performance boost to all Universal applications running natively,” said Ron Okamoto, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. “We’re delighted that Mark/Space will continue to deliver outstanding Palm support for Mac users with a Universal version of their software.”
Mark/Space’s commitment to the platform goes beyond providing software for end users. The company also provides free information and a framework for third-party conduit developers on the company’s website. By visiting www.markspace.com/developers.html, developers can learn how to make their conduits run natively in all three environments: The Missing Sync on both Intel- and PowerPC-based Macs and PalmSource’s HotSync Manager running on PowerPC-based Macs.
