Microsoft has released a new beta version of its synchronization software, ActiveSync. Unfortunately, it has not released any details about what is new in this version.
Although Microsoft has a page devoted to the ActiveSync 4.2 Beta Preview, this doesn’t list any new features. Instead, it gives a fairly standard description of this synchronization software; one that could apply to almost every version for the last few years.
This page includes only the vague statement, “The ActiveSync 4.2 Beta Preview delivers new features to improve the synchronization experience for customers. “
The page on Microsoft’s site does contain a couple of important warnings, though. “Support for ActiveSync Beta 2 Preview will not be available from Microsoft” and “Because this is a beta, the ActiveSync 4.2 Beta Preview should not be used on production systems in mission-critical environments.”
Those who still are interested in installing this update can download it from Microsoft’s web site.
