Palm Updates VersaMail for Centro

Palm, Inc. has posted an update for the version of VersaMail that runs on the Centro, its latest smartphone.  The main improvement in this is improved support for Google’s Gmail service.

Specifically, this update includes:

  • Enhancements to Gmail IMAP compatibility and an updated setup wizard with the new Gmail settings
  • Improvements to help eliminate the silent failure of email when using Microsoft’s Direct Push Technology via Exchange ActiveSync in VersaMail.

Full Screen Picture ID Program Available for Palm OS Smartphones

Mobiles have had the ability to show the contact picture with the caller ID information for a long time. Now, a new program for Palm OS smartphones takes that a bit further by adding the ability to show full-screen pictures at each incoming call, and other features.

ToySoft’s PictureID allows the use any JPEG/JPG or GIF picture as caller ID, with additional display options such as colors, fonts, and even customized pictures for those with no contact picture.

Other features of PictureID include:

  • Custom picture for individual contact
  • Custom picture for Contact Groups
  • Custom picture for Known, Unknown and No CallerID
  • Support up to 4 phone numbers per custom filter
  • Includes North America area code city lookup. Display the caller’s city name on call screen
  • Support for third party ring tone managers

Cute Keys v.1.0 for S60 Released

Cute Keys for Symbian S60 devices is an application that extends the ability to use various features of S60 handsets with various button combinations.This application creates shortcuts that can be used to do anything from sending SMS messages, to checking the device status.

One of Cute Keys advantages is that the created shortcuts can be used anywhere on the mobile phone: while making a phone call or while using other applications.

Cute Keys is available for all Symbian S60 v3e devices, and can be downloaded in a trial version from  Symbian Guru.
