Opera Mobile 8.60 Web Browser for Symbian S60 Released

Opera continues with the updates to its popular web browser. This time the Symbian S60 platform receives an update by way of the Opera Mobile 8.60 Web browser. Version 8.60 bring quite a few enhancements:

  • Symbian 9, S60 3rd Edition compatible
  • Auto-completion for URL entry
  • Password manager for easy logins
  • New and improved smooth scrolling
  • Updated user interface with new skin
  • Open and toggle up to four windows, each with separate settings for zoom levels and display options
  • Read and bookmark newsfeeds
  • Send images as MMS or save to phone gallery
  • View the complete list of updates

By an large,  this seems like a worthwhile update to enhance the mobile Internet experience of Symbian S60 users. Opera Mobile 8.60 is available for download and there is also a tutorial to get users up to speed on how to best use this application.


The JAVOedge Releases a Slew of Treo Accessories

Release Candidate for Fitaly 4 for Windows Mobile 5 Announced

Fitaly has long been a popular alternative input method for many Palm OS and Windows Mobile PDA users. A user wrote in to inform Brighthand that Release Candidate 1 for Fitaly 4 for Windows Mobile 5 has been released.

BlueNomad Introduces Beta of Backup Buddy.NET for Over-the-Air Backups of PIM Information

BlueNomad, makers of the popular Palm OS backup software Backup Buddy, have announced that they now have available a beta version of their Backup Buddy.NET backup utility. This application can back up a user’s data to a secure server so that in the event of a lost, stolen, or damaged PDA, the information would still be retrievable.

The current release is a beta and only backs up Contacts, Calendar, and Tasks. In the upcoming Professional version, more backup options will become available.
