HAVA Player Brings Placeshifting Mobile TV to Nokia Internet Tablets
Monsoon Multimedia has announced a version of its HAVA TV Player for Nokia’s Internet Tablets. The HAVA Player enables the viewing and controlling of a home TV system over a Wi-Fi or WiMax connection. Made specifically for the Internet Tablet, this version of the HAVA player features an easy-to-use touch interface and support for hardware keys.
Any TV source connected to a HAVA device can be controlled by the HAVA Player. An on-screen remote within the player allows for controls such as Pause, Play, Rewind, Skip, Record, Guide, and Menu
The HAVA Player for the Nokia Internet Tablet will be available in Q2 2008 as a free direct download. In order to use this application, a HAVA box must be purchased. Several models of HAVA devices, in addition to more information about HAVA, are available from the Monsoon HAVA website.
Google’s Picasa Web Albums Now Available for Windows Mobile
Web applications are becoming a popular focus of developer’s efforts, and Picasa Web Albums for Windows Mobile, Google continues to bring its web applications to mobile users.
Usable on Windows Mobile 6 Classic and Professional touchscreen devices, Picasa Web Albums uses Google’s AJAX framework to display, categorize, and edit Picasa photos and albums.
Windows Mobile users can view Picasa Web Albums by going to Google’s web site.
TV Guide Goes Mobile
Gemstar-TV Guide International, Inc. has announced a new TV Guide Mobile website, which aims to enhance the information and media guidance service offering to any Internet-enabled mobile device.
TV Guide Mobile provides a 14-day look ahead at localized TV listings with episode descriptions. Reminders for series and show times can be sent via SMS. Features such as Breaking Entertainment News, Tonight’s TV, recaps of Last Night’s TV, and insider information are a part of this mobile offering. Customized settings such as My Favorite Shows and My Favorite Channels can also be set.

AT&T Wireless to Use Microsoft Surface
In efforts to enhance the experience of shopping and learning about its mobile devices, AT&T is unveiling the use of the Microsoft Surface computer. Essentially a very large tablet computer, Microsoft Surface has device and situation recognition properties that AT&T will use to demonstrate using mobile devices in their stores.
A limited trial of the Microsoft Surface in select AT&T stores will begin April 17 in Atlanta, New York City, San Antonio, and San Francisco.
