The Return of Launcher X

Many long-time Palm OS users will have fond memories of Launcher X, which was once a very popular replacement for the standard Palm OS application launcher. Sadly, it was left to languish for several years, putting it well behind the cutting edge. Fans of it will likely be happy to hear that GoTreo Software has brought this application back to life.

The new version, Launcher X 1.2, offers support for the latest technologies available on Palm OS devices, like the NVFS file system and the five-way D-pad.

This is a free update for those who have bought previous versions.  For new users, it costs $19.95.

For more information on Launcher X, visit the GoTreo Software web site.

SanDisk Launches Fundraiser For Katrina Victims Using Music Downloads For Its Cruzer Freedom Flash Drive

From the press release:

Owners of SanDisk’s Cruzer Freedom USB flash drive can now download more than 40 songs from a variety of international recording artists as part of an effort to raise money for victims of Hurricane Katrina. The offer uses a new technology that stores music to the flash drive but allows it to be played on any personal computer and other devices that accept USB connections.

Although the tracks are available for free, SanDisk and the community of artists hope that Cruzer Freedom owners will make voluntary donations to their choice of charities involved with the Katrina disaster relief effort. There are links to these organizations from the Freedom online catalog, which offers books, music and other content. To access the catalog, users plug the drive into a USB port of a computer that is connected to the Internet and click on www.cfsv.com/Katrina/index.html.

More information about the Katrina fundraiser and supported devices (essentially if you play an MP3 on your device, then you can support this effort) can be found at www.SanDisk.com.
