T-Mobile and Motorola have released an update for the system software on the Motorola Cliq that they promise will increase its battery life, an area where this Android-based smartphone has been criticized.
In addition, firmware version 1.1.31 will also include a new “Battery Management” feature. This will give users the ability to select battery consumption modes that optimize data performance while minimizing battery consumption.
The improvements in this firmware update go beyond energy management — Motorola says it make the touchscreen more accurate and protect against inadvertent key presses and unintended phone calls.
In addition, the performance of Bluetooth wireless networking is being enhanced, with improved pairings, audio, and call connections with wireless headsets.
Other changes in firmware 1.1.31 include:
- Improved connections to corporate e-mail accounts
- Repairs issues with lingering connections after hang-up
- Quick Office 2 supports additional file types and enhanced capabilities
To install this system software update, Motorola Cliq users should go to Settings > About Phone > System updates.
