Motorola Mobility has published a list of its smartphones that will be upgraded to Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), the latest version of Google’s OS. The device maker has also revealed which models won’t be getting upgrades.

Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean)

It’s no surprise that Verizon’s recently-introduced offerings, the Droid RAZR M, RAZR HD, and RAZR MAXX HD will be moving up to version 4.1. Motorola says these upgrades will be available before the end of this year.

Other smartphones introduced within the last year are also going to get Jelly Bean upgrades, including the Atrix HD, Photon Q, Electrify 2, and the original Droid RAZR, RAZR MAXX, Droid 4, and Droid Bionic. It was not revealed when any of these will be released.

No earlier Motorola smartphones will be moving up to Android 4.1.

What’s New

Brighthand provided an overview of Android 4.1 shortly after it was unveiled in the summer. Some of the highlights include Google Now, which tries to be a pro-active digital assistant, informing users of the information they want before they know they need it. This includes traffic and weather information, and much more.

The Notification system has been redesigned to be more interactive, and Google’s developers made the user interface faster.
