Samsung gave the Galaxy Note II the ability to display two apps at the same time. A system software update is now going out to AT&T’s version of this device which gives it support for this feature.

Samsung Galaxy Note IIThe 5.5-inch display on the Note II is large enough to open up some interesting possibilities. One of these is the Multi-Window feature, which first debuted on Samsung’s larger tablets.

This super-size smartphone runs Google Android, which does not support displaying simultaneous apps. Samsung had to develop Multi-Window independently.

Verizon’s and Sprint’s versions of this device debuted with this feature, and T-Mobile added it to its version earlier this month.

A statement from Samsung says:

AT&T plans to begin rolling out a software update for Samsung Galaxy Note II customers that includes the Multi-Window feature, which allows the user to divide the screen into two active “windows” creating a split screen that enables fluid multitasking between applications. The update will be available for download over the air beginning Dec. 27.
