For whatever reason, the power button on my SJ30 has stopped responding. I’ve had the unit for less than a month, so this is not good. A quick call to Sony informs me that they will replace my unit, while I wait up to a month for a new one!
I’ve given Sony as much cedit as anyone over the past year for their innovative PDA design and superior functionality. However, I give Sony low marks for their service program. While I did reach a support person very quickly via phone (less than 2 minutes), he was not very informed about the Clie. He wasn’t sure how I could turn the SJ30 on without the power button funtioning. Although, he did know the Clie goes to sleep after a few minutes, so his information/knowledge was a bit spotty.
My biggest dissapointment though, is that Sony will not send me a new unit. I have to get a return packet from them, fill out some paperwork and send it back. Then I have to wait up to 2 weeks for them to ship a replacement. In total, this process could take nearly a month. That said, how does Sony expect to grow their business user base if this is the extent of their support?
So it turns out that this is more of a rant than anything else, but I’d like to hear your stories. Good or bad, Sony or other…
