Sony adds MP3 to CLIE handhelds Matthew Broersma Sony looks set to release a new version of its colour CLIE device, with an updated operating system and MP3 playback Sony may be about to release a successor to its Palm OS-based handheld computer, the CLIE PEG-N710C, according to reports on the Web. The PEG-N760C could be announced as early as 17 September in the US, with features such as MP3 and ATRAC3 playback, and an upgraded Palm OS 4.1 operating system. The company has stopped selling the N710C in the US. Europe’s version of the PDA, the N770C, was announced at Germany’s IFA 2001 trade show last month, and is expected to be available around the end of September for roughly 400. Sony could not be immediately contacted for a response.
