Next-Generation HTC Smartphones May Be Coming to Sprint

Sprint will be getting versions of the HTC Diamond and HTC Raphael, if an unconfirmed report is correct.

An anonymous source has leaked an internal Sprint document to Engadget that makes it clear that this wireless carrier has its eye on these two high-end Windows Mobile smartphones.

According to this and earlier reports, the HTC Diamond will be the replacement for the HTC Touch, and use the same general tablet shape. Like its predecessor, it won’t have a hardware keyboard but instead be focused on its touchscreen. It will supposedly include a VGA display, Wi-Fi, 3 megapixel camera, and an updated version of this company’s fingertip-oriented application launcher, Touch FLO.

The HTC Raphael, on the other hand, is expected to be the replacement for the HTC Mogul and similar devices. It will have a sliding keyboard that can be hidden behind its 2.8-inch VGA display, and will also supposedly use the new version of TouchFLO.

This document says Sprint’s version of the Raphael will have EV-DO Rev. A, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, GPS, and a 3 megapixel camera.

The picture of this upcoming smartphone in these documents is blurry almost to the point of uselessness, but it appears to match the image of an unknown HTC model that leaked earlier this week (see here).

According to Engadget‘s source, Sprint is scheduled to launch the Raphael in September, while the Diamond will be released in November.

It’s possible these devices will be announced early next month, at a press event HTC has scheduled for May 6.
