by Reads (15,255)

Nokia 5800 Xpress Music users already familiar with the over-the-air (OTA) firmware updating function also have the ability to update other software via the Application Update feature. The latest app to be updated in this manner for the 5800XM is the Flash Lite plug-in.

This update to version 3.1 fixes some stability and performance issues. Other fixes in this update include:

  • Flash 9 (Action Script 2 only) support
  • Local Connection/HTML Text/GetURL_target/CSS support/WMode
  • H.264 support/Improved video support (smoothing, seek)
  • MP3 Streaming support
  • Support for hardware acceleration
  • Linux Reference port

Download Instructions
To get this update for Nokia 5800XM devices, open the Application Update program and choose the option to Search for Updates. The update will then download and install within a few minutes (over a Wi-Fi or 3G connection).

Unlike many other updates, this is only to the application, not the smartphone’s firmware. No data needs to be backed up, or is lost in performing this update.
