Nokia Here MapsLate is better than never. Six months after promising to integrate sight recognition into its suite of Here applications, Nokia has finally issued a LiveSight update for Here Maps.

The update became available for download on Tuesday in the Windows Phone app store for Windows Phone 8 users. Tapping a button in Here Maps allows users to enter LiveSight mode, which will scan the surrounding area and offer useful information regarding nearby locations, such as addresses, phone numbers, and ratings.

Additionally, the Here Maps version of LiveSight appears to offer similar capabilities to Nokia’s City Lens with virtual signs attached to buildings. Unlike City Lens, though, it offers full functionality offline.
