Nokia N81 Entertainment-Oriented Smartphone with 8 GB of Storage Now Shipping

Nokia has globally launched a new smartphone with a focus on entertainment. The N81 offers features for those who want both a mobile music player and a portable gaming console.

Naturally, this model supports the Nokia Music Store, which allows users to buy and download songs to this phones. To make this easier, one version of this device includes 8 GB of internal storage.

The N81 also comes with preview of the N-Gage gaming service, including playable demos of EA Sports FIFA 07, Asphalt 3: Street Rules, and Space Impact Light. The full launch of the N-Gage service is scheduled for later this year.

To support its entertainment services, this device includes dedicated gaming keys, as well as ones for playing music and video.

More About the Nokia N81

This smartphone runs the Symbian OS with Nokia’s S60 user interface.

It has a 2.4 inch QVGA color screen and a sliding numberpad. When closed the N81 is 4.0 inches tall, 2.0 inches wide, and 0.7 inches thick. It weighs 4.9 ounces.

This quad-band GSM phone includes support for 3G (2100 MHz only), Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 2.0.

Other features of this model are a microSD card slot, and FM radio tuner, and a 2 megapixel camera.

Available Now

The N81 is available for order now. There will be two versions of this device, one with 8 GB of storage with an official price of 430 EUR, and one without.that costs 360 EUR.

Unlike the introduction of many of Nokia’s earlier smartphones, the N81 is available outside of Europe on launch day. For example, Amazon.com is selling the 8 GB version for $550.
