Nokia Phi, Windows Phone 8 Successor to the Lumia 800, in the Works

Nokia Phi Photo LeakIt seems that the Windows Phone 8 device pictures that were leaked via Weibo a couple days ago are, in fact, of one of Nokia’s new WP8 handsets, codenamed the Nokia Phi. At least, that’s what a new unconfirmed report says.

The Nokia Phi is supposedly intended to be a successor to the Lumia 800, therefore featuring similar design elements like the curved screen and polycarbonate unibody with a non-removable battery. It will, however, be bigger than the Lumia 800, though specific measurements and screen size have yet to be confirmed.

Other design features are reportedly going to include an external SD card slot, no physical buttons on the front, and 4 physical buttons on the right side (volume up/down, power, and camera buttons).

Specs regarding what’s under the hood have yet to be fully detailed, but what we do know so far is that it will run on a Qualcomm dual-core CPU and the handset will be 4G LTE-enabled. Additionally, the Phi will have NFC capabilities. No current Windows Phone has anything but a single-core processor, and none have NFC.

No word yet on pricing or what carriers will offer the phone, but the Phi will supposedly be available starting from the last week of October.
