On Tuesday, Nokia announced plans to offer HERE Drive+ for all Windows 8 smartphones. HERE Drive+ is a global voice-guided turn-by-turn navigation app with offline maps and an international navigation license. Previously, the app was only available for Nokia Lumia devices.
While the software is free for owners of Nokia’s Lumia 928, 925, 920, 822, 820, 810 and 610, it’s being priced at €34.99 for other Windows Phone devices. The local version of the software, HERE Drive, is already available on other Windows 8 devices in Canada, France, Italy, Mexico, Spain, the UK and the US. HERE provides a license for a specific country or region only. However, Nokia will be offering HERE Drive users the chance to purchase an in-app upgrade to add the global license for €15.49.
Nokia is also adding other enhancements to HERE Drive+, including My Commute, a feature aimed at learning the user’s daily driving habits and making personalized recommendations based on current traffic conditions.
In addition, Nokia plans to release an update to HERE Transit, its public transportation app, which will offer a more streamlined user interface and a new panorama view.
