Nvidia Pushes Shield Release to July

Nvidia ShieldNvidia has announced that the launch of its handheld gaming console, the Nvidia Shield, will be delayed until sometime in July.

The news comes hot on the heels of last week’s announcement from Nvidia that the Shield price would be lowered by $50 (to $300) and would be released this week. However, Nvidia is now citing a mechanical issue with a third-party component as has decided to delay the release of the device until next month.

The Android-powered handheld gaming console has a 5-inch screen with 720p resolution and is powered by a Tegra 4 chip. The Shield also allows users to stream games from a PC, assuming they’ve got a GTX 650 GPU or later. For more information about the device, be sure to check out our impressions from our hands-on time with the Shield at PAX East earlier this year.
