Palm and Handspring wireless efforts to be crushed, according to a new report

Strand Consult, a firm out of Denmark, is claiming that Palm and Handspring multi-function devices will fail miserably when competing against cell phone manufacturers. Their logic resides in the fact that there were only 10 million PDA’s sold last year and 410 million cell phones. The report goes on to say that Microsoft will be okay, because they have more experience and a better financial structure. Strand management consultant Nicolaj Nielsen said, “(Palm and Handspring) are going to have to compete against the power of both Microsoft and the Symbian base,” Nielsen said. “They will keep on being players, but they will not win. In the long term Palm will not be a successful company.” I;m not totally sold on this report…I think Palm will fail too, from the device side, but for different reasons. I suppose only time will tell though. Brian
