Palm Completes Be Inc. Buyout By allNetDevices Staff Palm, Inc. Wednesday said it has completed acquisition of the technology assets of Be Incorporated. The company said the final purchase price was $11 million in Palm stock. Palm also said it also has hired several key engineers from Be, although it didn’t specify their names. The deal was approved by Be shareholders on Tuesday and the company will now cease to exist as a separate entity. Be was the developer of the BeOS, which was aimed primarily at larger devices such as Net appliances. It currently is part of Sony’s eVilla Net appliance. Be was focused on the Net appliance segment. Despite initially strong expectations, those devices never captured the public’s imagination.
