Palm OS is business as usual, for now, says Access

In the few days since Access Inc. announced that it was going to acquire PalmSource, maker of the Palm OS, speculation has been flying over what plans the new owner had for the platform.

Now, in a statement given to CNET, Access says that they don’t intend any dramatic changes in the near term, and will continue to support and license the current Palm OS, as well as continuing to develop PalmSource’s promised next-generation Linux-based OS, slated for delivery some time late next year.

The company representative also stated that Access’ current plan is to combine their Netfront web browser with Palm OS Garnet for future distibutions.
