The RealOne Player Mobile for the Palm Tungsten T handheld is now officially available. It allows users to play music in RealAudio and MP3 formats.

It can transfer songs from the RealOne Player on a PC directly to a Tungsten T in its cradle, without going through a full HotSync. It supports playing music in the background and dimming the screen to save on power.

This app uses about 500 KB of RAM. An SD expansion card is required to store and play the files. It works only on the Tungsten T.

RealOne Player Mobile is a free download. There are versions for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux.

Real had originally said this app would be released last year. It unofficially appeared on the company’s website last week.

The Competition

During the long delay between the release of the Tungsten T and the release of the RealOne Player for it, several companies have put out MP3 players for this handheld. This includes Aeroplayer and Pocket Tunes. However, neither of these are free.
