Not that it’s any surprise, but now we know for sure that the “w” at the end of the Treo 700w was indeed to differentiate it from the Treo 700p Palm OS next incarnation of the Treo SmartPhone.
Somebody on the TreoCentral forums in the San Jose area got their paws on the Treo 700p. Apparently it has a 320 x 320 screen (same as the Treo 650 and more real estate than the Treo 700w) and is running Palm OS Garnet version 5.4.9 — not the latest 6.0 version Cobalt, which has yet to see the light of day.
The Palm 700p also includes Bluetooth 2.0, but no Wi-Fi, and according to the user Merlyn_3D in the TreoCentral bulletin boards the device has built-in EVDO, which would make it the first Palm OS based device on the market to have it. The Treo 700p will be available on the Sprint network.
