When palmOne announced in January that it was putting more of its emphasis on the Treo line of smart phones, some wondered if this was a sign that the company would let its regular handhelds languish.
Mr. Bradley didn’t give many details, but he did tell the BBC that these models will “provide much more in terms of multimedia storage”.
What the Rumors Say
Rumors have been circulating for several months that say palmOne is preparing to release two new devices, the Tungsten E2 and Zire 31.
The most anticipated model is the Tungsten E2, which will supposedly have a 320-by-480-pixel color screen. It is also expected to have Bluetooth short-range networking. It is thought this model will use an Intel processor, though the processor speed is not yet known. It is not known what the price of this model will be.
Reportedly, the Zire 31 will be an entry-level model with a color 160-by-160-pixel screen. Otherwise, it will be quite similar to the Zire 21.
Some had hoped these models would be introduced at the CeBIT trade show, going on now, but Mr. Bradley’s comments make it clear this isn’t going to happen.
