PalmSource has released a Java runtime environment for the Treo 650 smartphone and Tungsten T5 handheld from palmOne. This provides the technology needed to allow mobile Java applications to run on these devices.
“Now, the more than 3 million members of the Java development community will be able to develop and deploy business applications for mobile workforces for the recently introduced Tungsten T5 and Treo 650,” said Anthony Armenta, director of Software Product Marketing, palmOne.
IBM WebSphere Everyplace Micro Environment (WEME) has been designed to connect enterprise data to mobile devices for sales force automation and mobile employee productivity.
It can be downloaded, free of charge, from palmOne’s web site.
WEME is already available for the Treo 600 smartphone, the Tungsten family of products, as well as the Zire 72 handheld from palmOne.
