PalmSource, makers of Palm OS, today unveiled two new resources for handheld users: Expert Guides and Application Directory.
Expert Guides are tutorials created by leading Palm OS users, including Brighthand’s own Jen Edwards, about interesting things that can be done with a Palm handheld or smartphone. These guides document the resources available for using Palm OS in that area, including links to software, e-books, great web pages, online discussion forums, testimonials, and whatever else is relevant to the topic. The first wave of twelve Expert Guides includes guides on food and wine and astronomy.
As we reported earlier this month, this is part of a plan by PalmSource to increase the visibility of Palm OS software, and it is looking for people to help. The Expert Guides are being assembled by volunteer experts, called Palm Powered Software Champions, who collect information on the topic that they’re an expert on, and PalmSource takes care of formatting and posting the pages. In return, the Champions get $200 in gift certificates to Mobile Planet. An application form is available online.
The second resource, an Application Directory, is a software “white pages” of Palm OS applications. This enables handheld users to find software to fit their specific needs.
