Hitachi producing test units of 4 GB Microdrive
Hitachi, which bought out IBM’s hard drive line, is producing initial test quantities of a new 4-gigabyte-capacity Microdrive. Microdrives are hard drives in a CompactFlash form-factor, about 1 inch across and weighing in at 16 grams. The cards won’t hit mass prouction until November, when they are expected to retail for $500. Expensive yes, but cheaper than the alternative solid-state card, which will retail for $1500.
PalmSource posts Dev information on 5.3
PalmSource has released ‘seeding’ versions of the Palm OS 5.3 Simulator, and an SDK for same. This means that a new release of the Palm OS can’t be far behind. So what’s new? No idea. At the moment, you need to be a developer to get at the goods, so it may be a few days before we have a clear picture of what the changes are.
