2 GB high-speed MultiMedia Card
Pretec is apparently intent on resurrecting the old MultiMedia Card format, precursor to SD cards. Following up on their release of a 1 GB MMC earlier this year, they’ve designed a new ultra-high-speed card that is supposed to be the fastest flash memory available. The new card uses a 4-bit data bus to pass information at theoretical maximum speeds of 18 MB/second (write) and 22.5 MB/second (read), though it is compatible with existing devices at lower speeds. No price has yet been quoted for the card once it’s released, though it is expected to retail for $1000 or above.
