Axims shipped with faulty OS

A batch of new Axim X5s appears to have been released to the public with a faulty copy of the Windows Mobile 2003 OS. The issue causes a noticible loss in perfomance, particularly as affects memory and Storage functions, and requires semi-frequent resets of the PocketPC. Dell has communicated their awareness of the situation, and says that the problem has been fixed. If you have recieved one of the affected units, you should contact Dell to arrange a fix or replacement.

Razor Zayo selling for $199

The oft-overlooked Razor Zayo PocketPC is available from MobilePlanet.com for a price of $199 plus shipping. Though it’s been fairly well ignored, the Zayo is one of the few ultra-compact PocketPCs that also offers a full featureset, including 64 MB RAM, a 400 MHz processor, metal case, and optional CompactFlash sled. Despite using the older PXA250 processor, the Zayo is consistently one of the highest ranked PocketPCs for speed in benchmarks.
