Sony and Ericsson have agreed to add cash to their Sony Ericsson joint venture

The two companies have announced plans to fuel the venture with 150 million Euro before the end of this quarter. This announcement contradicts other rumors and reports that said both companies were unhappy with the deal. If this is indeed the case, they’ve decided to put differences aside to make the relationship work. All I want is the damned P800 which is due out in the US in March…here’s to hoping they get the cash in and don’t shut it down!

Intel to release a new XScale PDA processor

Pocket PC and Sony Clie OS 5 model users rejoice. These new processors won’t have higher clock speeds, but they’ll sap your battery at a much slower rate. The other major improvement is the doubling of the rate at which the processor communicates with the memory. Many experts have made it clear the reason XScale processors have not really outpaced ARM processors could be directly attributed to the slow bus speed.

Demo units are in the hands of manufacturers now, shipments are expected to start February 10th. Intel will give PDA Manufacturers until March 28th to make the switch, which they all must do. The cost of the new chips is the same.

This news is important though. If you’re buying an XScale powered PDA in March, you might want to seriously consider waiting for these new processors. It is possible to upgrade your current unit, but the barriers seems pretty high for the average user.

Want to kill a bunch of aliens on your Pocket PC?

“The general sent you to bomb an alien infested area, unfortunately your spaceship falls. Assuming that you ll be dead soon and he ll get the permission to bomb that area, he tells you that it will take 20 days to get you back…Can you prove he s wrong? “

We’ve got this game in hand and will post a review soon. If you can’t wait to kick alien butt, pick up the trial or purchase for $9.90. It’s designed for ARM processors, so test it first before you buy.
