Intel previews future XScales

Intel has offered a small sneak preview of some of its upcoming XScale processors at a developer event in San Jose. The chips’ feature-set appears to be nothing earth-shattering, simply a continuation of what we’ve seen in the past–reducing power consumption, and trying to improve multimedia performance.

Palm announces earnings

Both the PalmSource and Palm Solutions Group branches of Palm Inc. have filed their quarterly earnings for the period ended August 29th. The company as a whole lost $21.7 million, or 74 cents per share. This came in below analyst expectations of an 83 cent per-share loss.



Free version of PocketWiNc WiFi sniffer

Until this Sunday, the 21st, PC Magazine is offering a special version of Cirond’s PocketWiNc WiFi detection software free of charge. You need to sign up, but you can input false information. The program provides a veritable laundry list of functions for finding, analyzing, and connecting to wireless networks. PocketWiNc is normally priced at $19.95.
