Updated Skweezer and Total Remote

Skweezer, a service designed to reformat web pages for better use on handhelds and smartphones, has been updated to version 1.2. The new version features better caching protocols, and improved handling of ‘session information’ for such applications as online shopping.

Griffin Technology has released version 1.11 of Total Remote, an infrared remote control replacement for PocketPCs. In the updates is support for satellite recievers and cable boxes, performance improvements, and a greatly expanded database of infrared codes. The new version also features support for more handhelds, including the iPaq 5400, 5500, and 5600 lines. This is really impressive, since the iPaq 5600 doesn’t exist yet. I guess somebody didn’t re-read their press release.

Three new Palms rumored for Autumn

Brighthand has been given information indicating that three new models from Palm Solutions Group are due for release October 1st.2 Amongst the three are a $200 midrange model, presumably replacing the increasingly unsalable M series; a $100 low-end unit either refreshing or replacing the original Zire; and a high-end model which comes in a box identical in size to that of the Tungsten T2–possibly the anticipated T3. The latter is marked as $430, but Brighthand’s source cautions that the inventory system is wrong on a semi-regular basis.
