PoGo has announced a new media player device that is more entertainment than PDA.

Two versions, one with 128 Mb of RAM and another with 64 Mb will be available. Both have an SD/MMC expansion slot and a connector which will be used to provide support for accessories.

The device occupies a clamshell formfactor similar to that of NTT DoCoMo’s i-Mode handsets and features a color screen, voice recorder, digital audio and a rechargeable lithium ion battery.
It supports both MPEG-4 and MP3 formats, enabling users to view full motion video, still images and replay high quality audio. It uses Windows Media Player technology and can also be used for playing games. The Flipster is one of the first dedicated solid-state video players and is priced below existing handheld DVD players at around $400.

“Flipster has combined all the great multimedia formats into a small device,” said Andy Park, Vice President of PoGo Products. “This is not only a gadget lovers dream come true, but it is also a powerful tool for the business professional.”
