Portico Update Hitting T-Mobile HTC 8X Phones in the US

by Reads (3,619)

HTC 8XA little while back, we reported that international HTC 8X users were receiving the first Windows Phone 8 OTA update, codenamed “Portico,” but that there was no news about when exactly it would be reaching US users, as Microsoft said it was still working on testing it before rolling it out. It didn’t need long apparently, as the update has now begun to hit T-Mobile HTC 8X models.

The update is meant to fix a number of known issues with the operating system, including random reboots and problems with Wi-Fi connections getting severed when the device is put into sleep mode. It also brings improvements to messaging, web browsing, Wi-Fi connectivity, and text replied to rejected calls.

There have been no reports thus far of the Portico update reaching the HTC 8X on other carriers (it’s also offered by AT&T and Verizon) or the one other Windows Phone 8 device that T-Mobile sells, the Nokia Lumia 810.
