An image purported to be a rendering of the next high-end Windows Mobile based Treo smartphone, known as the 800w, has appeared on the Web.
The image comes from a user on the TreoCentral web site.
Reliable specifications for the upcoming device are scant, but previous rumors suggest that it will feature a 320 by 320 pixel touchscreen, EV-DO Revision A, Wi-Fi, 128 MB RAM, 256 MB flash memory, and possibly even internal GPS.
New Design, Slightly Smaller
The photo shows that the new Treo appears to take design elements from Palm’s recent Centro and 500v low-end smartphones, as well as a possible reduction in size.
TreoCentral’s editors took the image and produced a comparison shot featuring the 800w next to other recent Palm smartphones, the Treo 750, 500v, and Centro.
The 800w is expected to launch on Sprint’s network some time early next year.
